Kimberley Wells is a qualified medical doctor and a specialist Sport and Exercise Medicine Physician. She has interests in sports medicine across all ages and levels of physical activity and sporting backgrounds. Previously an athlete herself, Dr Wells won two Australian National cycling road titles and competed in road cycling professionally across Australia, Europe and North America. Dr Wells is currently working as the Chief Medical Officer for the ACT Brumbies and with elite athletes at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).



Dr Wells has worked with high performance athletes from a wide range of sports at the AIS, including rowers, gymnasts, basketballers, track and field athletes, para-athletes, swimmers, combat sport athletes, cyclists, endurance runners, triathletes and Winter sports. She has toured with the Australian Men’s hockey team to Malaysia where they won the Aslan Shah tournament before going onto the gold medal at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Dr Wells attended the 2019 para-athletics world championships in Dubai as the Australian track and field team doctor.

During her training, Dr Wells worked in high performance sport at the AIS, as well as private practice in both Australia and New Zealand. In New Zealand, Dr Wells worked at Axis Sports Medicine, a leading sports medicine centre in New Zealand, providing excellence in sports medicine to wider members of the community. Dr Wells attained her fellowship in her final year, whilst working in Canberra at the Specialist Sports Medicine Centre.

As a consultant specialist, Dr Wells can provide a comprehensive assessment of your problem, and a detailed management plan to support your goals. Dr Wells is passionate about exercise as medicine, lifestyle promotion, and supporting recreational and elite athletes in the Canberra community.
